Students learn better when they are surrounded by a comfortable enviroment, somewhere they are acknowledged and can easily fit in. Students should be allowed to attend whatever school they want to because they know what surroundings they prefer. Though that school should be also aproved and desirable by the parent also because they might know whats best for us.

We should be able to have the chance to attend a school that WE want to go to. If overpopulation becomes a probelm, then there can be a limit for the number of students attending schools.

First off, some of us may want to attend a school that has a better academics program compared to that of the school we are attending now.

Second, other schools may have an athletics program that dominates over other schools. Transferring to that school could put you in a better position for a D1 college to notice you, if you're planning on playing college sports.

Other schools could have better academics, athletic programs, school clubs, etc. Bigger and better things on your transcript could put you in a better position for college.

I am on a transfer to Mac. I chose to come to this school instead of Irving. I did this because I have opportunities here I could not have at Irving such as the best golf team around and superior accedemics. I do not mind driving the extra ten minutes or so to get here, because its worth it. If any student wishes to go to a school for accedemic or extracuricular reasons, I think that opportunity should be available to them because it may further them in the future.

Choosing what high school parents want their daughter(s) or son(s) to go to, is a minor decision out of the infinite amount that they have to make everyday.

If the daughter(s) or son(s) are able to make this decision and over power their parents', they could be learning how to take responsibility for their own consequences. Wether that be bad, or good because of the choice, they could learn how to face that, and deal with it.

I think any student should be able to decide where they receive their high school education. When it comes to your education your own personal decisions are extremely important, you need to chose an enviroment where you feel you can do your personal best. You shouldn't be held down to certain boundaries set by your city or surrounding area. If you feel you can do better somewhere else you should be able to make that decision yourself. It is of the up most importance to recieve your education and you should be able to receive it in a place of your choosing, because it is all about you when it comes to your own education, it's all about your decisions and the paths you want to take for your future, so this should be one of those important decisions you make. Education is for yourself, so you can do better, not for anybody else, so your choice of high school should be decided by you, not by someone else.

With the lack of freedom that students have when they are at school, they should atleast have some say in where they want to attend. Regardless of the location of school and the distance from the residence to the area where school is, students should have the oppportunity to pick the high school of their choice. If the location and the distance hinder their capabilities to attend school then that should be followed with consequences, but I see no other reason to stop students from going to the school they want.

The system we have now prevents an overflow of students to any one school. This is important because the schools need to be balanced in demographics or else severe white V black V hispanic separations could occur within a community with one school consisting of nearly all of one ethnic group. Also, if students were allowed the freedom to easily switch schools then whatever school has the best cafeteria, computers, or extra curricular programs will be flocked to and every other school will suffer in attendance. Thirdly, if one school has a reputation for featuring the "brightest minds" of the region then many gifted students would apply there and standardized scores in the other schools would drop. This same scenario applies to athletics as well. In conclusion, if students were allowed the freedom of swapping schools easily then there would be severe demographic imbalances.

The rules are in place for a reason. If anyone could go to any school they choose, the whole education system would be thrown into chaos. Students would most likely pick a school that their friends are at for that reason alone. There would be no way of controlling over-population either, which could lead to safety hazards and make teaching conditions especially difficult. The system in place now would be more beneficial to everyone than the one we'd have if students picked their own high school.

Students may pick to go to a certain school because of their friends or how good the sports team is. I feel like this will offset the balance of a communities social classes if all the "rich/popular" people go to one school and the "poor/unpopular" go to another this will offset the balance between the two classes and this may cause all kinds of disutes between the schools i.e. fights. Most of today's students wouldn't go to a school because of how good its education is but because of how good its sports teams are or how popular the people at that school are. Students would most likely make a bad choice in which school to go to if they were allowed to go to the high school of their choice.

If students chose where they went to school, it will lead to the overpopulation of many schools. Thus, creating the demand of a bigger school, which means construction and that isn't cheap. More people will have to be highered to teach, discipline, and patrol the immense crowd of students. It could also cause other schools no one wanted to attend to shut down. It could be a waste of money for our already struggling economy.

If students got to choose where they attend high school, then the most popular schools would be over populated while the others had small populations. Also, some students would also weigh their decision on sports and sports only. If all of the great athletes attend one school just because they were the best, where would the fun be in games, meets, and matches? This is why districts have transferring rules. If a student wishes to attend another school then what they're supposed to attend, they can put in a transfer to the school of their choice.

Students shouldn't be able to attend different schools because if you chose to live where you are, then you should go to the school where you chose to live by. If you don't like where you are going, send in a transfer. For example, if there were three schools designated for studying arts, and one school had the most sources and information, the other 2 schools would be pretty much useless just because they might not have all the knowlegdge of the other school. Also, if you choose to go to a school based on sports or any other extra activities just because they have a better team or course, isn't right. You go to school for an education not for extra activities.

Allowing students to go to any high school they wanted to leads to multiple negative consequences. Popular schools would have too many kids in them, while unpopular schools would have few to none students. Also, public schools are funded by the tax payers within a certain area. If out-of-area students decided they wanted to go to that certain high school, then they are basically receiving free education because their parents aren't paying that high school. Not only will schools suffer but students will as well. It would be harder for students to hang out at their friends' houses because of distance. Just because students desire to attend a specific high school does not mean it is the best for the student.

Most students aren't mature enough to choose their own school, because they'll only want to be with their friends at other schools. Then that will cause too many students at one school, and it won't allow students to get the attention they need from teachers. The increase in students will mean the school will have to increase the the size of the school and hire more teachers and staff, which will cost more money. Also, there will be so many students that students can skip and have little worry about getting caught.

If students were able to choose the high school they wanted to attend to, then the high school environment would change dramatically. Not only would student population increase, but it would make it much harder to control such chaos. There needs to be a balance between the population of high schools and there is a system of rules that prevents complications.

Enabling the right for students to choose their own highschool can cause a great deal of problems. For example, if their is a school that is well known, and popular many students would want to enroll to that prestige school. Which causes an unbalance of student enrollments within the schools. But the fact to let the stdudents have their own choice, can mislead them into thinking they can use this to their own advantage.

Why would a student even want to change schools? To be with their best friend that moved? If I was some sort of drug dealer in high school and I wanted to join a gang in another school and I could move schools, think of what kind of environment that would put the students originally at that school in. Of course the school would be overpopulated as well. I know many people who wanted to transfer schools for dumb reasons like their friends. A good reason would be education. But most likely other people would want to move to a school with a good education as well which would lead to overpopulation of a once good school. If I was currently going to a school with bad education, I can go talk with the district or the principal or anyone to change that, but the issue of overpopulation cannot be fixed if the current ruling on what school you go to is removed. A small point is the wasting of gas. If I go to a school that is five minutes away and I move to a school that is 20 minutes away, I anm wasting 4 times the gas! Thats 4 times the money and money doesn't grow on trees. We have to face the facts. We as students are limited, but it is best for us, best for the community, and best for the environment.
