I like the fact that we read shakespeare's work in highschool b/c if we were to read it at any lower lever we might not fully understand what the story truely means. Also, by read and understaning shakespeare's works we are raising our own level of reading and comprehension which will better prepare us for college level courses.

Shakespeare's works are a huge influence on today's writing, kind of like ballet is to hip hop. It is a part of our history and if kids aren't taught it, it will die away and be forgotten. Even though it may be boring and tedious at times, we should need to keep our history alive. Humans want to be remembered because they're a significant part of this world. William Shakespeare is a very important topic to discuss starting in the high school years. When in college, the studies may go into greater depth, and being that we already have an idea of the plots and characters in high school, that may benefit us. We learn a lot from Shakespeare.

Shakespeare's work is difficult to comprehend, but if you have the creativity lodged in your brain you will think not only on the literal level, but all of the other things that underly the text. If you're able to underly the text you would be able to have this ability in future tasks ahead. People will see that there is something that sets you apart from others, you'll have more to offer, more than one point of view. I mean give Shakespeare a break, he did invent words we use today after all.

This is true it is difficult but I guess the person that you are makes it so you can begin to comprehend His wording. :)

Shakespear's work wa real complex to understand for some of us, although I would have to say that I'ts better for us to read it in high school because at this point in time we should all be at that reading level of understanding.

Also later on were bound to come across Skakespear's work anyways so we might as well just become familiar with it. Personally If it was up to me we'd just watch the movies, because statistics show that four out of five times people are more visual learners. Thus making it more "fun" if you catch my drift.

Ps. I love the way they used to talk, Shows more class than now a days.

They should be studied at high school level because they are so intricate that it will help us gain more knowledge as we analyze it more. It prepares students for college level reading. So when you get to college you will be more advanced. High school is also a good level to read Shakespeare's books because elementary and middle school will never understand them. And, if you don't read them in high school, then maybe you never will.

Yes shakespeare work can continue in high school. Because I think we should learn about it. It's something we should learn about even though people might not understand it right off. I think shakespeare has a meaning to it.

Shakespeare may be a bit confusing to kids in highschool, but your teacher is there to help you through, that is their job. I read "Romeo and Juliet" in eighth grade. I loved the story, although I didn't understand completely while we read a loud in class, at the end of each section or so the teacher would go over and explain what was going on. Like Mr. Mountain does as well. I'm starting to enjoy Macbeth now that I understand it. Learning how to read higer levels of reading in high school will definitely help you out in college.

They should do both teach it both in school and college. So the everyone that are upper class men and lower class can understand the feelings and emotions that Shakespeare writes about. But if your going to show the lower class men like the 5th grade or lower, they should make a version of his writing rated like PG-13 or something. So the blood and sexual content don't effect them the wrong way.

Yes, Shakespeare's work should still be studied at the high school level, so we could learn the different types of text they used back then. It would help us understand the dialogue more clearly because he used the words in different ways. It would help prepare us for college level text because of the big vocabulary.

Shakespeare's work should and most likely will continue to be studied in high schools because he is a literary genius. His plays pretty much laid the founding floor for the movies and great American books we have today. Think of so many movies that show similarities if not based on some of Shakespeare's writing. It is boring to us today but he really did start the evolution of great literary writing. A lot of kids today don't get his writing because they are just reading it, they don't realize there is a lot of underlying meaning in his writing. He was a great entertainer with his writing, kids need to understand that and it can help them understand other books better. Because they won't be just reading it, they will actually understand it.

I like that we read Shakespeare in high school because it developes and expands your mind at a higher level of reading. The harder the dialouge the more that you have to read in between the lines and see the real meaing of the text. Instead of reading the modern text like any other book Shakespeare helps you visualize how it was back in their time than other books do.

Shakespeare is a form of literature that has deep profoundness in English. It expresses itself with a lot of words that students get to understand most of their topics. This writing brings us to understand the modern English.Though old-school it`s it that brings english study by the used words found. It`s complex but a great start when started in high school found with the right person to teach it.

Shakeshaspeares work has been used in english literacy for years. His work teaches us lessons and gives us a understanding of the history during this time period. With us reading this different type of literature that were not used prepare us for morre difficult things at a college level.

Yes i feel like shakespeare is a high school play. You can't take it a way becuse it has been the one story from back then, that we can lean how the speak and write in them days.

It should be an elective class insted. Were there will more time to watch clips and movies about the plays, so that students can get a better understanding of them. shakespeare is not for everyone. A lot of todays write use Shakespeare work.

Shakespeare's works should be studied at high school level, because at any lower level we wouldn't be able to understand what it means. Also gives you more knowledge for higher studies like College or University. Shakespeare's work might also be able to help people speak in a more professional or modern language. Which helps you get a better job with higher pay and most of businesses now are asking for more education with excellent verbal and written communication.

Shakespeare's definitely should be still studied. Being that it is a part of history, that will help you have that better understanding as to what has been happening back in history. only to help you understand things that that are happening now in the present is just a repeat of what had been happening in the past. its just in the english class to help you break down what us modern people don't understand.

Although we may have a disdainful attitude towards Shakespeare's works and find it insipid, in reality it helps us in the long run. To the untrianed mind Shakespeare's works are a bunch words trying to sound like english, but to the trained mind his works are these embellished masterpieces that are deserving of reverence. Shakespeare's works are written in code (Elizibethian to be exact), and when taught in school students begin understand and comprehend it on a deeper level. Basically as a student learning Shakepeare you learn how to find the details behind something, as compared to just looking at it. With that said we as students learn how to "think outside the box" rather than inside. One perfect example would be today's generation of texting, where parents are the untrained minds and us teens are the trained minds. Marinate on that!

i think that shakespeare's work should continue to be studied at the high school level because it will help us to understand more difficults books that are in college.

But at the same time some of shakespeare's works are boring and difficult to understand.

Yes, i think Shakespeare's work should be continue be studied

at high school level, because we all have to be able to understand that old English style and knowledge they had back then.

Shakespeare's work should still be studied in high school because if we didn't study his work we wouldn't fully understand old stories from his time or know the way they spoke.

We also wouldn't be able to comprehend his work if they told

us to read his stories in college. So, I do think that we should read Shakespeare's work because it helps us learn about different types of stories and genres.

Yes, I think that we should continue to study Shakespeare's literature because it helps you learn different elements of old school writing. It extends your knowledge on the history of the archaic writings, and helps you to comprehend the development of today's writing.

No, I don't think Shakespeare's work should be studied in high school. I think his work is great but way to complex for the high school level. Some students in high school aren't mature enough to understand his work.

High school students don't appreciate shakespeare for what it really is. Shakespeare is very complex, and high school students don't really grasp the true meaning of what Shakespeare is trying to say. Shakespeare should be an optional subject that is studied in college.

No, Shakespeare is a great author and has done many great plays but the generation is changing. People prefer and learn better under the "new school" style. The way things were written in that time period make it less attractive, less fun, and harder to understand. You can use the same kind of plays and meanings for newer ones. The more present day the plays, the more influential it will be to today's generation.

So different wording makes things less fun and unattractive? Take the Bible for instance. King James Version is more of the "old style" and I've grown up with it for 17 years and it's perfectly fine. Now, I have switched over to NIV recently but still refer back to the old. The point I'm trying to make is that if we don't at least refer back to Shakespeare, we may forget he ever existed.

Yes , I understand that point, but the modern version is more attractive to us and if we're always translating words, it will take more time to study. For example, Mr. Mountain is always trying to act real modern, the students enjoy the class more and we want to learn more.
