Do schools kill creativity? (3rd Period)

Creativity is massacred in schools because all the guidelines and rules stifle the student's ability to express themself. Yes, the school allows the artists and musician students to show themselves through thier art and musical pieces but what about the students who fall in between the cracks? The school's restrictions towards what is allowed and what isn't leads to the destruction of creativity in students and the loss of identity.

Schools not only kill creativity, they obliterate it. Most, if not all teachers have guidelines for their projects, making it more difficult for us to be creative. Plus, how can we think about creativity when we are bombarded with homework nearly every day? Most students don't have time to be creative with all the work they are given by their teachers. Even when we have projects, they STILL give us homework. It's as if the project isn't enough to worry about. Also, we can't wear what we believe is creative. Who knows, some people may find ripped clothing creative or mini skirts creative. It's all about what people thinks is creative.

School kills creativity because of all the rules we are subject to follow. Our rules are created by teachers, staff, and the district and were are forced to follow them or suffer the consequences. We are allowed to wear our own clothing but the school and district strictly limits what we wear. Even in a creative class ( art, theatre arts, etc,.), we are limted to the way we express ourself. We can't make a project without rules that state what we can and can't do. The "can't list" is always bigger. Our creativity will always be controlled by the rules set down upon us.

I believe that schools do kill creativity. Any thing that a student might find creative or shows their identity they are against. Such as piercings I find that beautiful and the creativity is in the rings and the other things you can do with them.To me that shows who you are. Also the school dress code, they don't allow you to wear what you feel as creative such as ripped or destroyed pants.

I do think that schools take away most of our creativity. Of course we have art as an elective but even then we have certain boundaries and rules and sometimes we arent able to express our creativity and what comes to mind when we hear our objective. I do think that some students that go to the school feel that they have to follow other people in order to maintain popularity. Many kids are afraid to dress differently because as teenagers many people judge other people on their appearance and maybe this causes many people to feel that have to change how they look or act in school.

I believe shools kill creativity because it puts the students in mundane cycles that the repeat over and over for days, along with the rules they apply restricts the students choices and freedoms which over time slowly kills their creaive minds.

I think schools actually increase creativity, especially in a public school when your around an environment of different minds and opinions, which allows you to think in different perspectives of things which increases your creativity level. If you aren't around these sort of things then how would your creativity develop? School is the place where creative people are born, like Authors, lawyers, Artists and etc.

No I don't think schools kill creativity for a variety of reasons. One of them is because if school's killed creativity, we would be wearing uniform and everyone would look the same. Everyone expresses themselves differently even by the way they dress. Also schools, allow us to create projects, posters, powerpoints and tell us to put our own ideas into them. However, they are limited, like our teacher may limit us on how many powerpoint slides or the size of the poster and what not. It may be limited but it doesn't kill.

Schools are basically the buttress of a student's outcoming future and destined road. They encourage a student not only in education, but they also strengthen a student's creativity, imagination, talent, and originality. Ask your self this! during the summer vacation, is a student creative? Not really. Now during school students not only have classes from art to band for all of those gifted and artistic students, but school aslo enforces the students to work hard and think creative on such tasks as projects and assignments.

School limits our creativity in many ways, but doesn't necessarely "kill" creativity. School assignments limit our creativity a lot of the times; teachers want us to stick to the subject and learn what we're supposed to. It makes sense, because we've all seen the one student that decorates the poster a little too much and has absolutely no idea what the assignment was about. As students, we also care a lot about dress code restrictions. We complain about the restrictions saying they don't allow us to express ourselves, but we don't realize that it takes more creativity to stand out in an environment where we have more specific guidelines. In this sense, you could even say the school helps us engender creativity.

Although we have a lot of restrictions, schools don't necesarily "kill" creativity. Yes, you need to follow certain rules and instructions but you still get chances to show your creativity and personality. Like for example, we often have projects in some classes that you can create whatever you want, as long as it goes with the subject of the project. With those type of projects, the teacher gives you a topic and you use your creativity to create whatever you come up with. But of course they're a lot of exceptions to that, some teachers give you numerous amount of instructions to do a project that it does kills your chance to expand your creativity because it gives boundaries to your imagination.

But actually I believe there's no yes or no answer because when it comes to projects and school work, the limitation in your creativity depends on the teacher. They decide how much creativity they will let you put on the project or whatever it is. So at the end you dont have a lot of power over your creativity at school because you have authorities.

I would say that schools don't "kill" creativity per say. We're just limited and, really, only by a little. I think kids like to take it out of context, like to blow it, just to get some attention. They'll throw it at teacher's faces just to get a rise. In all honesty, we're still free to express ourselves how ever we want; may be not whenever we want and may be not everyone agrees with the way you express yourself, but we are still able to. We aren't under a dictator; that's the beauty of highschool.

As for high school i believe we have more freedom in being creative then in middle school. We are allowed to express our creativity through our clothing to a limit, and we are allowed to take classes such as art, theatre, band, and others that allow us to be creative and express ourselves. There are some rules about piercings and other things but that is for the sake of decensy. So overall i dont think schools kill creativity.

I don't believe that school kills creativity. I think that when someone is creative, he makes himself different from others and unique by the way he dresses or thinks. In school, we are free to wear whatever we want as long as the clothes are descent. Even though some people thinks that the dress code minimizes the creativity, I think you can still be creative while dressing properly. Also, we get to show our creativity when we are writing our essays in english classes or when we are working on projects. Therefore, I think school is the place where we develop our creativity. We should always remember that creativity is not meant to schock others but to share our opinions and show our personnality.

No, schools dont kill creativity, we kill it ourselfs. I feel that you can show creativity in many ways like the way you dress, how you wear your hair. its basicalliy your choice.

I do not believe that schools kill all of students creativity. I feel that we have more than enough ways to show creativity through clothes, creative writing, and talking also. I think that because students don't get their ways in school like if they violate the dress code then they think that the school has taken away their creativity.

I agree with the view that school's do not kill creavtivity. Due to the simple fact that unless you share a brain you are not subjected to the same thought processes. Just because you dress alike does not mean you think alot. Twins for instance. Look alike but extremly different.
