I believe that school actually does kill creativity even though it may not be intentional. While yes there are many different types of electives for very different people these classes are still restricted by the rules and guidelines set by the district which are not meant to encourage creativity. The main reason though is when there are thousands of students it becomes a stifling environment where a unique person might feel scared to express themselves and may try to reform. This is how school kills creativity.

I think the schools try to let us be creative, but I still feel like we aren't able to let our creativity shine through sometimes. Everything we do has too many guidelines to follow. We're given assignments with specific directions on how to complete. I mean, TAKS writing is about the most creative we've been able to get. Even our notes are outlined or formatted a certain way sometimes. The Gifted and Talented teachers are better about giving us assignments that we have to complete creatively, but what about the rest of the kinds at school? Sure, we can be in many organizations at this school, but everything we do is still so structured that the only creativity we see is in the color of things. They need to give us a little more than the room in this little box to think.

Beatrix Potter once said, "Thank goodness I was never sent to school; it would have rubbed off some of the originality.". In my honest opinion, well, I shouldn't say that, because this is an argument full of honest opinions, I think school puts the brain in a cave. Or a tree, for that matter, like a silverback, trapped in the wilderness, alone and hungry. Like the silverback, we are confined in the "jungles of Mac Arthur High", where our minds are limited to certain extents of creativity, that of which we are hungry for. For example, you go to art class, and your teacher tells you "Draw with the black sharpie, shade with pencil, and outline in red.". What if I wanted to outline in purple? Well, "No ma'am, you can't.". In ART class, where the basis of your education is actually creativity, you can't use your own imagination. So yes. The school kills creativity.

I think schools do kill creativity. Some teachers (excluding Mr. Mountain) go as far as to tell you how to organize your binder. There are classes like art, but even those classes tell you what to draw and how to do it. I understand that order is needed to teach, but a student should be trusted to use their creativity, not punished.

I believe school does kill creativity to an extent. While they have few classes that we can express ourselves, to a limit, most leave us lackluster. Teachers tell us that life is filled with many pathways yet they shove us through the door that they want us to take. Do this, do that in this way or your wrong.

I'm not a person who likes the "box", but I've had to adapt and stay in it. While it doesn't take creativity and "stab it to death", but it puts it on a chain to go a certain length. It goes to far and they pull it back in.

I Do think that school kills creativity. Because the rules limite the extent to wich a student can express themself. Like with the dress code, we cant wear what we want. just beacuse i few student choose to dress..... lets say less than apropriate.... the rest of us have to conform. And also, when we're in classes that have so many rules, that the squelch our ideas, and it makes the class really lame. So thats why i think that school diminishes our creativity.

while i think that some parts of school promote creativity, i beleive that most of it does not. you are not usually ecouraged to go ahead but to stay at the level of everyone else in the class. so it promotes creativity for those that have none but does not for those that have a lot.

School are always killing creativity because there are so many teachers that are not creative themselves, so they dont exactly encourage it. Also, the huge amount of rules that are implemented make a school boring, and lifeless so you don't get the chance to really think outside of the box. When you get a project, there are lots of guidelines that tell you what you have to do that really doesn't add to the creativity because you must follow the certain instructions that only allow for specific noncreative rules.

Personally I think that modern day schools and the schools of the past have kept the same drab material and has not let students adpat their personality and creativity in their everyday work. Also the rules of most schools are necessary, but in a way they emasculate kids who may be the rembrant of tomorow. for example some teachers do not allow art unless it is perfect or they do not allow certain comments to tell their story even though they are absolutley necessary. ok so that's my argument i hope you enjoyed it and always VOTE FOR PEDRO!!!!

When thinking about creativity its always important to keep in mind that its not the same with everyone. There are a lot of different kind of students that means they have to be creative but in their own kind of way. I think school do kill creativity of a student because we can hardly ever make any mistakes on anything we do, perfect things give you full points and also we have limited time to finish our stuff or even come up with new ideas. its a very important thing for a student to be able to take everything they have in their minds out so they can present better and creative ideas. I also believe that having time helps a lot with thinking calmly and with no pressure.

I believe that schools are honestly the base source of all creativity, because without school, students would have nothing to be creative with. For example, authors, musicians, and other artists do not just pull creativity out of the air, they usually have an education to base it off of, and school is that education that feeds the creative fire. Without school nobody would know anything, and so many things would be totally abstract, and creativity might not even be a thought, due to it not being taught through example. All in all, school does not kill creativity, it does quite the opposite and creates all of the creative artists, musicians, and authors in the world.

School is where creativity is born. Without school, a student wouldn't discovery their fullest potential of creativity. There are many activities and classes in school that allows a student to express their creative minds such as art, music, and writing. School also allows the creativity of students to be shared with other students. This influences them to express themselves and not be afraid to be themselves.

I don't believe the school kills our creativity, we ourselves control our ablility to be creative, and to think. Sure, there are rules and restrictions that we must follow, but you can be creative with so many other things besides school work.

For example, you have projects, add color, add your innovative ideas on them. If you're a creative enough person, you can think outside of the box enough to use those restrictions and rules to your advantage. There will be things that you think of that you won't be able to do because of these rules, but if you have the creativity, you should be able to think of something else. So no, the schools don't destory our creativity, it's our brain and the idea of being restricted that does.

I don't believe that schools kill creativity. In high school you have the freedom to wear whatever you want as long as it's not distracting (inappropriate)... hahaa. You can be as creative as you want with what you wear. I've seen some people wear tutu's over their jeans! Not really my style, but hey, it's creative. If we had uniforms we would all look the same, therefore school would kill creativity. We don't have uniforms, so in that sense school does not kill creativity.

How could schools be a killer to creativity, when it is the teachers that teach us the name of colors. They are the ones that actually explain how each word is shaped and grammar which collects those words into a story. Without school as a base the whole concept of art never gets passed on to the next generations.

In my opinion schools encourage and promote creativity to students. It does'nt matter what kind of school the student attends but many students go to school never knowing what may occur. Eventually students develope a liking for things that they may have never even second guessed about. Creativity can never be killed but only created and advanced through the minds of children, students, and even adults.

No, I don't think schools kill creativity even when uniforms are a part of the dress code.Between the rules there are always ways for a student to be creative. As a student one can find a way to follow the rules but also be ceative. For example our school, MacArthur High School, implies that students use laptops sleeves for their school assigned laptops. The school provides a backpack appropriate for the laptop but they dont state that students should only use the provided backpack.Students may be creative and original by purchasing their own laptop sleeve that is aproved for the laptop but also comes customized.

No, school help promotes creativity. One thing is that we're able to wear what ever we desire. We can express are selves through are clothing. We're exposed to diffrent people and culture. It helps us be open minded. The students can take diffrent electives, which can help them identify their true purpose in life.

School does have electives to open up your creativity but think about it. When you have math projects dont you get creative with those also?

Side: No

i dont believe that they do because it allows you to see other peoples creativity and how they express it. it also offers different ways for you to. you can express it t your through your clothing style or through music, dance, art work and even writing.
